“Photography and Patients: A Conversation with Nicholas Nixon”

Nicholas Nixon is a a photographer whose 20 years of work with hospital patients can be found in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Museum of Modern Art, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Nixon’s portraits of patients reveal the rich layers of the human experience, his clarity and precision are recognized internationally within the documentary photography community. His work is featured in the Yale University Art Gallery special exhibition “First Doubt: Optical Confusion in Modern Photography.”
Nixon will be conducting a discussion of his work on Friday, November 14 from 2:30-4:00 in Yale Art Gallery’s Duffy Study Room, 4th floor. This event is open to the Yale community, but sign-up is required. To sign up, contact Ewa Lech (email@example.com or 785-4701).
Furniture Study Tour

The American Decorative Arts Furniture Study is a working library of American furniture and wooden objects, housing approximately one thousand works from the Gallery’s collection. Ranging from the seventeenth to the twenty-first century, this selection of chests, tables, chairs, desks, clocks, cupboards, looking glasses, and woodturnings highlights important stylistic developments in American craftsmanship and design.
Weekly tours of the Furniture Study will be given by curators from the Department of American Decorative Arts. No advanced registration required, but space is limited. Meet at the information desk at the Yale University Art Gallery.
