Stern to donate $45,000 in prize money to Yale

Stern Handily Wins 10th Annual Vincent Scully Prize
July 30, 2008 Architectural Record By David Sokol

Although it usually takes many hours of difficult deliberations, the decision to give the National Building Museum’s Vincent Scully Prize to Robert Stern was made by jurors “in just 20 minutes.” Winners of the prize represent “intellectual accomplishment in architecture and an instrumental role in dialogue.”

“Stern says he will donate the $45,000 in prize money to Yale University, where he has served as the dean of the architecture school since 1998. The award’s namesake, Vincent J. Scully, has taught art and architectural history at Yale since 1949.”
