“That’s the debate that continues to swirl around the Orientalist paintings that were all the rage during the 19th and early-20th centuries.
“On Thursday, The Yale Center for British Art opened a ground-breaking exhibition on this type of art, defined as paintings by Western artists of people, places and daily life in that part of the Islamic world that borders the Mediterranean.”
