“The artists were allowed to use materials of their choice to decorate the violin, to disassemble a violin and create a work of art or to design ‘an artistic representation of a violin’ in their choice of materials.
“One artist nearly collapsed when he chopped his violin into sections and found a signature and a date from the 1800s. He incorporated it into his piece. There are light-box violins, there’s an Albert Einstein violin, there are digital violin photography collages constructed by some area school kids, one depicts the seasons of New England, yet another depicts Gulliver and his Lilliputians.”
